How to use YouTube's Take a Break feature



In 2018, Google and Apple released tools designed to help users realize how much time they spend with their smartphone.

Google has its Digital Wellbeing Initiative and Apple has Screen Time . Outside of Google's tools that require one of Google's Pixel phones, the company has also spent time building similar features in various services.

For YouTube, there is a feature called Take a Break. A reminder is triggered after a certain amount of continuous streaming in the YouTube app is reached.

You need to enable the feature in the YouTube app on your phone.

Android users must go to the YouTube app> select their profile icon > Looked at the time > Remind me to take a break . After selecting a pause option, a question is asked about how often you want to be reminded of your viewing habits.

When you reach your self-set time limit in the YouTube app, a warning is displayed that it's time to take a break. When the warning appears, you can either adjust the time between interruptions or reject it and continue watching a video.
