Sure, your search history Can be useful, but more often than not it is a paper trail of invasion of privacy. It’s perfectly reasonable not to want to see a complete list of your YouTube queries every time you search for a new video. Fortunately, it only takes a few taps to block YouTube from saving your search history.
From the iOS or Android app, tap your profile icon at the top right and then “Settings”. Then go to the “History and privacy” menu. From here, you can clear your current search history for your YouTube account on any device. Tap “Clear Search History”, then tap it again in the pop-up window to confirm.
To prevent further search recordings, under the clear option, turn on “Pause search history”;. YouTube warns you that you will lose both the ability to see your search history and recommendations based on your searches. If these two “losses” sound good to you, go ahead and press “PAUSE” in the pop-up window.
Just so we’re crystal clear: pausing your search history only affects questions from now on. All previous entries in your search history will remain for all to see. If you want to eliminate your searches, make sure you also do the “clear” step.
