Mysticism about the release of the next version of HoloLens has been swirling for several months, but at least some of this mystery can solve the next few weeks.
In an invitation sent on Wednesday, Microsoft invites members of the media to an event at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. It is quite common for MWC, but what stands out is a name included in the invitation: Alex Kipman, the inventor of HoloLens.
There is no confirmation of what the company will announce, but given the latest chat in the HoloLen community about an imminent HoloLen's 2 edition, it is highly likely that the event will deliver new details about the release or perhaps even deliver the audience's first look at the new device.
"Our pre-conference press reception will host Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, CVP Julia White and Technical Fellow Alex Kipman," reads the invitation to the event, which will come to take place on February 24th.
Is this second coming of HoloLens that so many have been waiting for? Microsoft does not say, but there is a big chance that we will at least get more details, and maybe even a look at the device that Microsoft hopes to use to compete with the upstart competitor Magic Leap and a number of other enhanced reality entities that come in in
