More PS5 pre-orders coming soon, says Sony: Check stock at Amazon, Walmart, GameStop and more

The PS5 has already proven to be the must-have gift this holiday season. The next-generation Sony game console will hit stores on November 12 in two versions: a digital version for only $ 400 and a $ 500 model with Blu-ray. (If you have good broadband and do not need optical discs – used games, Blu-ray movies, old PS4 games – go with $ 400 a.) But after most retailers jumped on the bandwagon and began taking online pre-orders a day early, the resulting traffic from enthusiastic fan sites crashed as if they were being hit by denial of-service attacks. The result was immediate sales and many disappointed players.

Walmart delivered another pre-order round the next night (September 1

7) at 6pm PT, just so they could sell out in under a minute. And even if you’m lucky enough to get a pre-order, you may not get your shiny new PS5 on launch day. Amazon recently emailed some of the first waves of PS5 customers who “may not get this item on the day it’s released due to high demand.”

On Saturday, September 19, Sony acknowledged the obvious: In a tweet, the company apologized for the pre-order of snafusand said that “will release more PS5 consoles for pre-order.” In addition, the company promised “more PS5 will be available by the end of the year.”

In the meantime, we have compiled the pre-order pages for major retailers below so that you can easily browse the status of their stock at any given time. Feel free to click on the links below – maybe you’m lucky.

At Amazon’s PS5 headquarters, you can see eye candy images of PS5 accessories such as the DualSense charging station, Pulse 3D wireless headset and HD camera. But click through the console page itself and you will not find a way to order right now.

GameStop has sold through its pre-order console stock. However, you can order some PS5 accessories:

According to me, Best Buy’s pre-order stock was the longest, but eventually gave in to demand. You can still get the accessories.

Target was one of the first retailers to sell out. You can still order a controller:

Walmart is also sold for pre-orders. The control unit is still available, however:

Sony allowed users to register here for the option to pre-order a PS5, but as of Thursday night, the page says “Registration is now closed.”
