In the NBA, teams that do not play all have a chance to land the first pick in the draft through the draft lottery. The fewer games a team won last season, the greater its odds on landing the top pick in the NBA draft.

The main prospect of this year's draft is Zion Williamson, a force ahead of Duke who has drawn comparisons with none other than LeBron James for his rare combination of size and athleticism. Other names that are expected to be called early in the draft are RJ Barrett, another forward from Duke and Ja Morant, an explosive point guard from Murray State.

If you are an NBA fan, your team hopes to land Zion or another top player, the NBA Draft Lottery is where you find out their chances. Top picking is a powerful thing. Here's all you need to know about watching the lottery live, no cable subscription is required.

When is the NBA draft lottery?

The NBA Lottery Lottery takes place on Tuesday, May 1

Which teams are involved and what are their odds of winning?

The law with the worst three records from the last season – New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns – each has the best chance of winning the draft lottery (14 percent) and number one pick (aka Zion). The Chicago Bulls had the fourth worst record and had a 12.5 percent chance of winning, followed by the Atlanta Hawks (10.5 percent) and the Washington Wizards (9 percent) before beating 6 percent for New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks and Memphis Grizzlies.

The law with the longest lottery tickets is Minnesota Timberwolves (3 percent), Los Angeles Lakers (2 percent), Charlotte Hornets (1 percent), Miami Heat (1 percent), and Sacramento Kings (1 percent).
