Nest's alarm system has been successfully integrating with other Google Assistant smart speakers for a while, a new update makes Nest Secure its own Google Home variety.
Nest Guard (the key key hub for the Nest Secure system) already has a built-in speaker and microphone with the necessary hardware requirements. So the new feature is easily added via a firmware update. From there, you can treat it as a Google Home Mini, ask about weather and driving routines.
However, there are some limitations. You still cannot disable the Nest Secure system with your voice, so you can still use either a keychain key or the key code.
The update is starting to roll out today for Nest Secure users and while these same users probably already have a Google home, it's nice to have an extra unit in the house.
