As NVIDIA continues to increase its RTX 3000 graphics processors, the company is tuning the fat from its popular Jetson Nano development package. The new Jetson Nano has only 2 GB of RAM instead of the usual 4 GB, but has the same CPU and a 4K video processor. For $ 60, it is an unusually accessible platform for machine learning and robotics.
Jetson Nano 2GB is a single card computer. It̵7;s quite similar to the Raspberry Pi, albeit with a heavier emphasis on GPU performance than CPU performance. And when it comes to AI, you need all the GPU performance you can get.
Like the first Nano, the new 2GB model supports 4K 60Hz video decoding, which is perfect for AI applications such as object identification or motion tracking. It can also decode up to eight video streams simultaneously, although the streams will bottleneck at 1080p and 30Hz.
Hobbyists should have no problem getting started with the Jetson Nano 2GB, as it has the standard GPIO pins, USB ports and HDMI output that you would expect from a modern single card computer. It also has a Gigabit Ethernet connector and a built-in Wi-Fi module – an easy upgrade of quality of life from Jetson Nano 4GB.
NVIDIA’s 2 GB Jetson Nano developer package is available for pre – order today and will be sent on October 26. Use it with NVIDIA’s Jetson AI Specialist certification program for a fast and robust introduction to AI and robotics.
