OnePlus 6T problem and how to fix them

OnePlus 6T is not a major upgrade over its predecessor, but while the specifications are basically the same, a new and more minimalistic towbar, a larger battery and a fingerprint reader in the display create the latest OnePlus flagship stand. However, what remains its biggest selling price is the price, while 6T also fights the competition with at least a couple of hundred dollars.

But as a current generation's smartphone, OnePlus 6T has met its fair share of problems since its launch. Here is a summary of some common OnePlus 6T issues, and potential solutions to how to fix them!

Problem # 1 – Not receiving SMS / MMS on Verizon

One of the more interesting messages during the launch of OnePlus 6T was the fact that the device is certified to work on Verizon network. One of the most important problems in easily changing your SIM card from an older device is that users cannot receive SMS / MMS, even if phone calls and data work well. To get your device working properly on Verizon, here's what you need to do:

  • Call or start an online chat with a support representative and tell them you're trying to activate a Verizon certified phone in your account and inform them they need to activate "CDMA_LESS" provisioning, aka, only LTE. It should only take a few minutes for the CDMA minor change to beat your OnePlus 6T.
  • You may need to ask them to ensure that both the billing and networking profiles for your account are the same, that is, they both say you are using a OnePlus 6T. Keep in mind that if billing / network synchronization is required, it may take up to 48 hours. the rope should see the CDMA-less setting in your network account.
  • A few users have discovered that the customer service representative is unaware of the problem or process required. You may need to escalate the problem to a level 2 rope and users often have to try several times before finding a rope that can properly help them.

Problem # 2 – The phone does not connect to Windows 10 PC

While most users have not faced a problem with the computer recognizing the device, some users have found that the device is charging only when connected to the computer and file transfers are not possible. Some additional steps are required in this case:

  • Go to Settings – System – Developer Options and enable USB troubleshooting. If you do not already have developer options listed, go to Settings – About Phone and press Build Number several times (at least 7) to get the developer settings.
  • In the development options menu, scroll down and find "Standard USB configuration." Select "File Transfer." The PC should now be able to recognize the phone and allow file transfers between the two devices.

Problem # 3 – Alternative to use fingerprint sensor to sign in to apps that are not available

Some apps, such as banks and other privacy programs, require the further entry of the device's PIN / pattern or fingerprint scan. However, some users have found that the option of using the fingerprint scanner to log in to these apps is missing.

Potential Solutions:

  • You must first erase saved fingerprints by going to Settings – Security and Lock Screen – Fingerprint . Then remove the apps that have the problem from the phone. Review the fingerprint installation process again and then reinstall the apps from the Google Play Store. The apps should now recognize the fingerprint sensor as an access option.

Problem # 4 – Auto Brightness Does Not Work As Expected

Some people have found the adaptive brightness does not work as well as expected. It remains too dark for comfortable viewing. This is one of the most common OnePlus 6T problems recently reported.

Potential solution:

  • Something to keep in mind is that the smart adaptive brightness of the phone adapts to your use over time. If you manually change the setting a couple of times in different situations, the phone will learn from this and eventually the brightness automatically sets how you like it.
  • If this is not the case, the best option is to disable automatic brightness and Manual setting of the screen brightness with the slider in the scroll down entry or the Settings menu.
  • You can also download and use the Lux Auto Brightness app available on the Google Play Store, which is an excellent tool for controlling the Auto Brightness feature. There is also a free version of the app available here.

Problem # 5 – Messages Not Displayed

Some users have found messages will not appear and will only appear when the app is reopened.

Potential Solutions:

  • This question seems related to just a few apps, like Whatsapp, in particular. If you notice the problem, don't forget to check the app permissions and notification settings. Go to Settings – Apps and find the app with the problem. Click the Messages and Permissions section and make sure the correct settings are enabled.
  • Some users have found this problem caused by OnePlus 6's aggressive battery optimizations. Go to Settings – Battery – Battery Optimization and press the three vertical dots at the top right. Open advanced optimization and disable it. This fixes the message problem and does not seem to affect battery life much.

Problem # 6 – Incoming call problems

Some users have noticed that an incoming call is displayed only as a blinking blue phone icon in the message field and when the phone is locked, no info (caller ID) or the answer / deny option is displayed on the screen. This seems to be one of the most common OnePlus 6T problems around.

Potential Solutions:

  • Go to Phone – App Info – Messages – Incoming Calls . Select and tap to open detailed options. Go to "Behavior" and select "Make sound and pop up on the screen."
  • You can also set ongoing call notification behavior to "Show Silent" to avoid additional pop-up messages and message sounds during calls.

Problem # 7 – Random vibrations

Potential Solutions:

  • Go to Settings – Apps and Messages – See all apps . Go to Storage and clear the data for the following apps – Android Setup (there are two but only one allows the app data clearance), the Download Manager and the Google Play Store. Restart the device and random vibration should have stopped.

Problem # 8 – Connection Problems

Connection problems are quite common in new devices and OnePlus 6T is no exception. Below are the general steps that you can follow when encountering problems with connection to Wi-Fi or Bluetooth devices. The more widespread OnePlus 6T problems are related to Bluetooth connectivity.

Potential Solutions:

Wi-Fi Problems

  • Turn off the router and the phone and wait a while before turning them on again.
  • Go to the Wi-Fi settings on the device and forget about the desired network. Enter the details again from the beginning.
  • Check the activity level of your current channel with the Wi-Fi Analyzer program. If necessary, simply change to another channel.
  • Disable Power Saver Mode by Settings .
  • Find the MAC address of the phone by going to Settings> About phone and making sure it is known by your router.

Bluetooth problem
