OnePlus has been numerous in its support for fast charging technology for several years, and it looks like this method will be extended to its accessories. OnePlus CEO Jay Liu told TechRadar that the upcoming OnePlus Buds wireless device will be able to use its Warp Charge technology to go from zero charge to ten hours of battery life in ten minutes.
Warp Charge is the self-developed term that OnePlus uses for its high-watt, fist charging system that debuts on the OnePlus 7 Pro. Liu said that the same 30-watt charge applied to the case of the OnePlus knobs would let the knobs and the case last for a total of 30 hours. Due to the miniature electronics inside the individual knobs, the wireless earbuds will still charge at the standard 5 volts, 1.5 amps. It is not clear how long it takes the individual buds to charge in the case.
OnePlus has claimed that the knobs will beat Apple’s standard AirPods during the life of the battery, and may also beat them in price by cutting out the wireless charging element. OnePlus has hesitated to embrace wireless charging, but has only offered it on its top One-Plus 8 Pro this year.
The OnePlus buttons are expected to be unveiled next week, along with a new intercom, Nord.
