Congress has not yet agreed on who is eligible for a second incentive check, but it is expected that more will be included a second time.

Sarah Tew / CNET

The month-long journey towards getting one second stimulus control may be on the way to a conclusion, if another direct payment may take place. Both chambers of commerce could soon vote on a bill it includes another check. If an action by Congress fails, a possible new executive order can draw stimulus money from existing pandemic programs to fund more support.

We divide the basics of stimulus control eligibility into a practical diagram below to make it easy to learn how factors as your income, din number of relatives and a series of rules and exceptions will affect whether you can qualify for a new round of incentive money, if any.

It is possible that at least one new group may qualify to receive up to $ 1,200 each and contribute to one even larger sum for family groups than what was originally allowed the first incentive payment. CNET’s stimulus check calculator can also appreciate what you can get. We have recently updated this story.

Stimulation control eligibility: Which groups can do the cutting

We do not know for sure who will qualify for a new incentive payment until Congress approves the legislation. However, we can benefit from it first stimulus control eligibility requirements and Heroes Act and HEALS Act proposals (none of which are legal) to get an idea of who may or may not get a second check, including some unexpected qualifications below.

Both Republicans and Democrats use adjusted gross income or AGI, to determine the amount of payment for individuals and families, which could be $ 1200 for individuals and $ 2400 for married couples.

How rules over relatives can change

While the initial payments approved under the CARES Act included $ 500 for relatives 16 years and younger, The HEALS and Heroes Act would both revolve around all addictions, regardless of age, including students and adult addictions. The Democratic plan would extend $ 1,200 each, for up to three relatives, so a family of five could receive a maximum of $ 6,000. The Republican plan would provide $ 500 for each dependency you claim on your taxes, but the HEALS Act does not set a ceiling on the number of relatives.

Who skipped the first incentive payment

For the payments approved under the CARES Act, which became law in March, these groups were excluded:

  • Individual taxpayers with an AGI of over $ 99,000.
  • Household managers with an AGI over $ 136,500.
  • Married couple with an AGI over $ 198,000.
  • Children over 16 years and university students under 24 years.
  • Foreigners abroad, as defined by the US government.
  • People who are imprisoned.
  • People who died since the last tax registration. (Their families may not collect on their behalf and are expected to return the payment.)

Lean stimulus bill revealed in Senate

When will Congress complete new requirements for stimulus control?

If an incentive check is approved by Congress and not an executive order, here’s the flow. Talks between Republican and Democratic negotiators on the new stimulus package have been halted for more than a month, but the two sides have signaled that they are willing to take up the debate. The Senate has officially returned from the delay today and the House after passes USPS funding, is back next week. If the parties reach an agreement, the stimulus bill will take effect after the president signs it into law.

We do not know for sure until the two sides come together on the next stimulus package, but we have a good idea about it when a check could be sent if a new bill passes.

For more, here’s what we know about major proposals for a second stimulus package. We also have information about unemployment insurance, what you can do if you have lost your job, if you could get two refund checks from the IRS and what to know about deportations.
