The long-awaited and bold new film Bill & Ted meet the music is now available for streaming. The third film in this classic slacker series with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winters already has 80% “Fresh” on Rotten Tomatoes and gets early praise. CNET’s Bonnie Burton calls it a “happy, fun, charming adventure and a great reminder of how music can bring us together in times of chaos.” Read her Bill & Ted 3 review here (but note that there is a spoiler in the story).

The film hit select theaters on Friday, but you do not have to leave your own home to watch it right now. Here’s everything you need to know about your most excellent comedy viewing options. Party on, guys!

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Amazon rental is HD, although all other streaming services include all resolutions via 4K UHD.
  • If you rent the new Bill & Ted movie on Fandango Now, the streaming service provides a promotional code with purchases that you can use to rent any of about 118 other movies at 50% off. Fandango Now has built a Movie Duos page with all the girlfriends you can think of, including both the original Bill & Ted movies, as well as Bad Boys, Hot Fuzz, Thelma and Louise, The Blues Brothers and many others.
  • This movie is not Movies everywhere compatible, so it will only be in the service you rent or buy it from.

Cinema in the corona age

In 2020, major theater releases will not take place in cinemas in the same way as before. Bill & Ted meet the music, the third part of the franchise with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, has been yet another film competing with a global Covid19 pandemic it keeps moviegoers out of a crowded theater, along with an entire laundry list of changes in everyday life.

While some movies drive out a theatrical version for the time being, others find homes on the small screen through video on demand, such as Disney’s Mulan.

Bill & Ted Face the Music’s fast-track video on demand follows in the footsteps of other 2020 releases such as Trolls World Tour, Birds of Prey and Sonic the Hedgehog which made it possible for moviegoers to see them safely from their quarantine bunkers.

After Bill & Ted’s excellent adventures and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, Face the Music is another story about how the music of Ted ‘Theodore’ Logan and Bill S. Preston Esq.’s band – Wyld Stallyns – is important for the survival of the human race. A trailer revealed that the titular duo must write a song to save the world, so they decide to visit the future and take the song, which has already been written, from themselves. Their daughters are also there to help them on their excellent new missions.
