If you have a group of iPhone users to deal with, whether you’ve working, planning a trip or organizing an event, Reminders can only be your new best friend. With iOS 14, the app now lets you assign reminders to contacts, so everyone knows what to work with.
The new iOS 14 feature is possible through an existing reminder feature, divisible lists. This feature allows you to share reminder lists with other people, so that everyone can help add, complete and view different tasks. With the ability to actually assign tasks to team members – assignments that the rest of the group can see – things just get a little more organized.
Step 1: Create a reminder list
As mentioned above, assigned reminders are a feature of shared lists, which requires that you first have a list. If you already have a list you want to share, skip down to step 2. Otherwise, check out this first step.
Touch “Add List” on the main screen. Name your list here and then select a color and icon for the list. Press “Done” and reminders save the list. Now click on the list and start adding your tasks and reminders to it. Press “Done” to save each reminder in your list.
Step 2: Share the reminder list
In the Reminders list, press the (•••) button at the top right and then “Share list”. From here, iOS will produce a stock sheet with a list of all available sharing options. Just click on one of the options to start the process and then follow the app-specific sharing procedure. For example, we went with Messages, where you select a contact before queuing a reminder link to send to that contact.
Step 3: Wait for your contractor to accept the invitation
You will not be able to start assigning tasks as soon as you share your reminder list – you will have to wait until your contact or contacts accept the invitation first. You will still see the “Share” warning at the top of the reminder list, but you will not see the option to assign tasks until the invitation is accepted.
You also do not receive any notification when they do, so you must either continue to check the method in step 3 or communicate directly with your client.
Step 4: Assign your tasks!
Once you have received your / your rights, you can start delegating your tasks. To do so, tap the reminder you want to assign, then tap the contact icon in the middle of the taskbar. From here, just click on the person you want to assign the task to. If you made a mistake, just press the contact button again and then select the correct one. When you are done, press “Done”. Now just rinse and repeat for all the tasks you want to assign.
Are you looking for a faster way to assign multiple tasks to one person? We’ve covered you. In fact, you can not only assign reminders faster, there is a way to change the date and time, delete, move and mark reminders as complete, all with iOS 14.
