After five years of endless popularity, Rocket league is free to play. Psyonix says that free play starts later this summer, coinciding with a huge one Rocket league update, platform support and release of Rocket League in the Epic Games store.
The upcoming update of the Rocket League is the “biggest to date.”; We do not know about any game updates, but we do know that Psyonix implements complete platform support via Epic gaming accounts. You can finally share your progress in Rocket Pass and your competitive ranking between your PC, Switch, PS4 and all other platforms you use for Rocket league.
According to Psyonix, everyone who played Rocket league online before the launch of free to play will inherit Legacy status. Here are the benefits that have Legacy status:
- All Rocket League-labeled DLCs were released before they were free to play
- “Est. 20XX ”title showing the first year you played Rocket League
- 200+ Regular items upgraded to “Legacy” quality
- Golden Cosmos Boost
- Huntress Player Banner
- People who played Rocket league before this announcement will also get Faded Cosmos Boost.
Unfortunately, Epic Games and Psyonix are pulling Rocket league from the Steam store. Steam player who owns Rocket league will continue to receive updates and platform support, but PC gamers planning to play the game for free must do so via Epic (or a game console).
