For me it is nothing better than to pop a favorite show or new movie after a long day in the office – except when there is a friend or two, I can talk to that crazy end. Netflix doesn't double as a social media app, so you can't chat about what you're looking at. What you can do is share your latest obsession with your Instagram story to get the discussion with all your followers.
Netflix does a great job in this room. In fact, you can share any movie or show to more than just your Instagram story – you can post everything on Netflix to other social channels like your Snapchat story or WhatsApp. After sharing, others can enjoy and chat about the same Netflix content you're watching.
To start, in the iOS app, open the main page for the show or movie you want to share but stop right there ̵1; we know you want to hit "Play" and see some or all of your choice before sharing it – but it the only place you can share this content is from this main page itself. Now click on the "Share" icon under the "Play" button and then tap "Instagram Stories" from the list. (Netflix is working on an Android version of this but it's not out yet.)
If this is the first time you share with Instagram, you may need to accept a popup from Netflix that allows the app to open Instagram on your behalf. Once in Instagram, you find that Netflix has started up history mode, either with a preview of your shared choice in the middle of the screen or a full-screen image that captures the entire story, depending on the title you chose.
If you get the preview image, you can resize it and move it where you want. In addition, you will find all the traditional story tools you can expect from Instagram, such as text, stickers, GIFs, artwork and more.
