T-Mobile has announced Scam Shield, a new free service feature for all T-Mobile, Sprint and Metro by T-Mobile customers who identify spam calls and help block robocalls. Carriers, including T-Mobile, have previously charged this service.

You will have access to a whole range of options via the Scam Shield app which you can download to your phone from 24 July. For Sprint customers, use the Call Screener app, which becomes a free service.

You do not have to wait to use a subset of Scam Shield – the service that blocks calls. You can take advantage of T-Mobil’s promised protection in this regard right now. If you are a T-Mobile or Metro T-Mobile customer, call # 662 # to turn on the Scam Block layer in the software and prevent unwanted calls from ringing on your phone.

Nicely pressure? Scam Block works for customers who pay a monthly invoice, but not for prepaid customers. Your device must work with the service, even if T-Mobile did not specify which devices are compatible. The carrier’s website also acknowledges that “if you enable Scam Block, you can block calls you want; disable at any time.”
