TCL only shows technology for the future today; It also announced some products that are ready to buy dollars at the moment. It includes two tablets, a set of genuine wireless earbuds and a smartwatch for the elderly.
The choice is yours with two tablets
TCL announced two tablets today, called TCL 10 TABMAX and TCL 10 TABMID. Difficult names aside, they give you at least an idea of what to expect. Both are affordable tablets, but TABMAX is of course the bigger, more powerful option.
TABMAX is a 10.1-inch tablet running Android 10. It runs on a MediaTek MT8768T processor, 4 GB of RAM and has 64 GB of storage with a MicroSD card slot for expansion. The screen runs at a resolution of 2000 x 1200. It has a rear camera of 13 megapixels and a forward-facing 8-megapixel camera. The standard edition costs € 249 and the LTE model costs € 299 (no word on US prices yet). Both models have a pen and type cover.
TABMID is, as the name suggests, a lower tablet than TABMAX. You only get an 8-inch 1200 x 1299 screen with some powerful frames that go around the thing. Instead of joining MediaTek again for the processor, TABMID includes a Snapdragon 665 processor, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage with a MicroSD card slot. This time you get an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. If you go down to this tablet, you will get back 229 €.
Both tablets will be launched sometime during the fourth quarter of this year.
A semi-class set of genuine wireless earplugs
TCL also announced a set of genuine wireless earbuds called the MOVEAUDIO S200. The headphones are more at the end of the affordable middle class and cost 100 €. For your money, you can choose between white, black or cricket blue. The knobs have an IP54 rating – good enough for water, dust and heavy resistance. TCL says that the MOVEAUDIO S200 has electronic noise reduction, touch controls, wear detection and Google Assistant or Siri compatibility.
What it does not come with is long battery life. Each charge gives you about 3.5 hours. With the case, you get about 23 hours of playing time before you need a plug. The headphones will be released globally at the end of September.
A smart trip for your aging loved ones
Finally, TCL has a new smartwatch that is really aimed at seniors. MOVETIME Family Watch (TCL is on fire with the names) starts like many smartwatches with a heart rate monitor, sleep tracking and touch screen. But it’s what the features do that sets it apart.
It’s like an SOS necklace in a smartwatch shape. It will remind users to take medication and notify the family if it detects a fall or irregular heartbeat.
Thanks to a 4G connection, it can handle text messages and two-way calls to keep seniors living alone in touch with others, and it has an SOS button on the side.
It comes in dark gray or black and will be available in the autumn for 229 €.
