I have a love / hate relationship with wireless charging mats – especially those that can charge multiple devices simultaneously. On the one hand, they are super-handy and versatile. On the other hand, they seem to be far nicer than wireless charging, because I have found it challenging to quickly get phones seated just right to start charging. Until I tried the Satechi Trio.

Here’s what we like

  • It just works without unnecessary complications
  • Charges multiple devices at once
  • The Apple Watch can be charged vertically or horizontally

And what we do not do

  • expensive
  • Larger than similar products

The idea here is simple: It’s basically an AirPower charger that can handle wireless charging tasks for Apple Watch, AirPods or AirPods Pro and all phones that can be charged wirelessly. Other types of earphones that have wireless charging are also compatible if they fit into the little divo that is designed for AirPods – I tested this with Skullcandy Indy Fuel, and it worked perfectly.

The trio has a pretty basic layout: Apple Watch, AirPods, Phone. There are three small LED lights on the carpet that light up when something is charged in the corresponding slot, so it is easy to see when your things actually get power. The watch charging puck can either lie flat or work at any angle up to 90 degrees, which is good if you want to use it as a nightstand. The puck is also integrated into the charger itself – it is not a “BYOP” scenario (bring your own puck) like many other wireless chargers that support Watch.

Unlike some other wireless multi-chargers that also have USB-C, the Trio is wireless only. It has a single USB-C input and comes with a 24w PD brick that drives the entire installation. This increases Trio’s value, as many other charging mats are not delivered with one brick.

Aside from the usefulness of being able to load all your important gadgets in one place, the biggest advantage (at least for me) of the Trio-pad is how easy it is to use. As I mentioned earlier, I find that most charging mats are strangely sensitive when it comes to device placement, especially with some Android phones. But not Trio – drop a phone on the specified charging range and it just works. It’s a breath of fresh air compared to many other wireless multi-chargers.

Overall, the Satechi Trio wireless charging mat is a versatile charger that just works. Pair it with the thoughtful hand as a charge indicator light, and you have a winning combination. If you have been looking for a wireless charging mat that can charge your watches, earbuds and phone at the same time, look no further than this one. It is easily the best I have personally tested, and the one that I will recommend to anyone who goes ahead. That’s good stuff.
