Picture frames are great old-fashioned, but plenty of people are comfortable with the new digital options. If you prefer a photo frame to use and the actual paper image, why not give it a small tool too?
Enter PowerPic, a desktop frame with a hidden Qi wireless charger underneath the photo. The integrated charging pad can go through the still image, the frame glass and a phone drop of up to 3mm, and it's designed with Apple's 10w solid charge for iPhones in mind. The charger works, of course, with Qi-enabled Android devices. The frame has a slight slope and a deeper recess between the wood surface and the glass, making a small "shelf" for the phone to rest. Remove the phone and become a regular photo frame again … albeit one that plugs into a wall.
PowerPic uses numbers with white or black spot to suit your interior. The manufacturer leans into its odd combination of old and new technology with some background images as the "complete" image behind them, offering both for printing and download. At $ 79.99, 5 × 7 PowerPic is significantly more expensive than buying both a wireless charger and a nice image, but you can not appreciate innovative decor. Oh, wait, yes you can. That's eighty dollars.
