Facebook holds its annual developer conference, this week. During the opening key on Tuesday, CEO Mark Zuckerberg assured the users that the company is focusing on integrity and adorned a new mantra: " ."
In addition to trying to convince users, the company has startedthere were plenty of new features, apps, and product announcements.
Almost all Facebook products were touched during the keynote. From the Facebook app and the website to Instagram or WhatsApp, Facebook makes improvements across the board.
Exactly when you see the new changes, apps and improvements are a bit of a mystery. We have tried to limit the best we can.
New Facebook design
FB5, as the company calls it, is the site's fifth major design update. There are two parts to the new design, the mobile app and the website. The new design gets rid of all the blue that Facebook is known for and replaces it with blank space.
The mobile part of it has already started rolling out to Android and iPhone users, and according to Facebook, the rollout continues "in the coming months."
I was able to get the new design on an iPhone after forcing-close the Facebook app a few times. On Android, however, I have not been able to force the app to switch to the new design.
The desktop design is not available until later this year. Official line from Facebook is "the next few months."
and updates, but we'll wait until "later this year."
Facebook rebuilds the app for Messenger in an effort to make it faster and more reliable. Along with the rebuilt app, Facebook adds a way for you to watch videos with Messenger contacts during a video clip in a feature called Watch Together. There are also a couple of Messenger desktop apps in the works for Windows and MacOS that will have the full package of Messenger features. Finally, there will be a new close friend section in Messenger that makes it easier to find stories and messages from those you talk to the most.
Improvements for groups
Facebook Groups, both public and private,. The first change you will see is a new Group tab in the Facebook mobile app. Right now, the Groups tab does not look so different, but within the next few months we will see more new features.
For example, instead of gently searching for a group based on your interests, Facebook will proactively propose groups to join you. Other improvements include chat room for game groups, health groups being able to post anonymously (via a group administrator) and workgroups will add the option to search jobs through the listing.
Updates to groups will not be a single press, but more of a steady stream of changes and tweaks.
Probably the biggestwill be in the form of a new camera. It rolls out in "the coming weeks." The updated camera will add a create mode and make it easier to use effects and stickers on your Instagram posts.
Two new Oculus headsets are available for pre-ordering right now and will begin delivering on May 21st. You can read more about the headset'sand all .
We also have a complete review of the new Oculus Quest which Scott Stein called "the best I've tried this year".
In the fall, company smart screen, begins shipping in Europe. Facebook did not provide a specific list of countries.
This summer, you expect a new portal app that lets you add images to the SuperFrame feature directly from the camera's role. Even this summer, Facebook will add video images, Flash Briefings, Amazon Prime Video and Facebook Live.
