Mobvoi is back with another smartwatch but unlike the TicWatch GTX, this Wear OS runs. The $ 230 TicWatch Pro 3 is the first Wear OS watch to run on the new Snapdragon Wear 4100, which promises to fix the laggy problems that plague the platform.
Qualcomm promises that the Snapdragon Wear 4100 will be 85% faster than previous chipsets, and even offers a 250% boost to the CPU. Now we’ll finally see how much difference it makes with TicWatch Pro 3. Of course you also get a gig of RAM to increase speeds.
The smartwatch includes the standard features you’d expect from an advanced device, including GPS, blood oxygen saturation monitoring, 24-hour heart rate monitoring and NFC payments. You also get Movoi’s suite of health apps, such as TicHealth, TicMotion, TicExercise and TicSleep.
Since it is a Wear OS watch, you can also expect the usual features there, for better or worse. While the upgrade hardware may address our delay complaints, you still need to browse the Wear OS store on the watch, which can be painful.
Mobvoi says that this TicWatch is thinner than previous models, but it is still quite powerful at 47x48x12.2mm. The watch has an IP68 waterproof and automatic training detection, so it should provide a decent training watch in a pinch.
If you use the watch’s smart mode, you should get up to 72 hours of use out of the watch. Of course, when you use more features, such as GPS, the driving time goes longer.
