To allow or block Chrome pop-ups

Google Chrome does a great job of blocking pop-ups out of the box, but sometimes it even prevents them from expecting one from a trusted site. Here's how to take control and allow or block Chrome pop-ups.

By default, Google Chrome automatically disables browser pop-ups. something that is easily surpassed because it is how the internet should be presented. Not all pop-ups are malicious or invasive. Some sites use them for legitimate reasons.

How to allow pop-ups from a specific site

When Chrome blocks a popup from a site, it displays an icon with a red X in the corner of the omnibox.

If you suspect this is an error and want to see pop-ups from this site, click the icon to see site-specific options, select "Always allow pop-ups and redirects "and then click" Done. "

 Click on the blocked pop-up icon, select Always allow pop-up and redirects, and then click Done

After clicking "Done," refresh the page to save your selection and see some intended pop-ups on this site.

Alternatively, if you only want to see a pop-up time, click the blue link in this window and you will be redirected to the popup that was originally blocked.

Chrome does a good job of blocking a majority of pop-ups, but sometimes pops a pop-up or you accidentally "allow" instead of "block" – and go onto your screen. To explicitly block a site from displaying pop-ups, you can add it to Chrome's block list.

Click on the menu icon and then click "Settings." Alternatively, write chrome: // settings / in the Omnibox to go there directly.

Browse a little further to the Privacy and Security header and you will see a "Content Settings" option. Click on it.

In the list of settings, click the "Popup and redirects" option.

For a site you have accidentally added to the Allow list, you can immediately revoke their permissions to allow Chrome to block its pop-up window again. Otherwise, you must manually add the problematic URL to the block list. We will take you through both cases below.

Under the Allow heading, find the problematic site, click More (three points), and then click "Block".

 Next to the site you want to block, click More, and then click Block

This moves the URL from the Allow list to the blocked list.

 The site is now listed under the Block list

If the site is not listed under any of the headings, click on the "Add" button to the right of the heading "Block".

In the prompt that opens Enter the URL of the website you want to block, and then click Add.

 Enter the site in the instant message and then click Add

Note: When you provide the URL, if you want to block all pop-ups across the entire site, use [19659034] the prefix for capturing all subdomains from the site.

The URL a Some of its subdomains are now under the "Block" list and Chrome will handle any future pop-up requests from this site.

 Popup files from the site are now blocked by Chrome

How to allow All pop-ups

Globally, pop-up windows are not recommended because they can be intrusive and annoying, but if you by someone reason must allow all sites to display pop-ups so you can bypass Chrome pop-up blocker. If you need to let a particular site show them, you should add it to the Allow list listed in the above method.

Open Chrome and go back to Settings> Content Settings> Popups and Redirects, or type chrome: // settings / content / popups in the omnibox and press Enter.

At the top, switch to either Block (off) or Allow pop-up windows. [19659003]   Switch this feature on or off, to allow or block pop-ups
