Are you tired of your iPhone or iPad “fixing” spelling mistakes when they are actually correct words, names, places or terms? Then you should consider turning off auto-correction, which is a simple solution in Settings. How to use.

Why does auto-correction feel so frustrating?

When your iPhone or iPad automatically corrects a word, it draws on both a dictionary and a predictable text algorithm that learns how to type. The dictionary may not contain all the first names, acronyms or new terms as they appear on the scene, so it can be frustrating when auto-correction changes what you know is correct. Also, if you misspell a particular word often enough, the predictive text algorithm will learn to misspell, and it may begin to “fix”

; correct instances of a word or term when you do not want it to.

There are some advanced solutions for auto-correction problems, such as trying to reshape the algorithm or adding custom shortcuts, but sometimes the easiest way to deal with auto-correction is to turn it off completely. Here’s how.
