How to remove apps from your Android device
So "how to remove apps" – simple question, right? There are actually three ways to remove apps on the device. Not everyone works on older versions of Android, while those who run a newer version of Google's operating system can use all three. You will find all the information you need below.
Option 1: Delete apps in settings
This method works for all versions of Android. The first thing you should do is open the Settings menu on your device. Then open Apps or Application Manager (depending on your device), find the app you want to delete and select it, and then press Uninstall Uninstall ] button.
In most cases, the app will be deleted from the device in seconds. When you are finished you will be directed back to the menu Apps where you can repeat the process to delete more apps if you want or need.
- Open Settings on your device.
- Press Apps or Application Manager .
- Touch the app you want to delete. You may need to browse to find the right one.
- Press Uninstall .
Option 2: Remove Apps on the Google Play Store
The second option is to remove apps that you want to get rid of by visiting the Play Store. Find and launch the Play Store app on your device, open the settings and select My Apps and Games. Just navigate to the section Installed open the app you want to delete and press Uninstall .

Option 3: Delete in the app box
This is probably the fastest and easiest way to remove apps on your smartphone or tablet, even if it does not work on devices running older versions of Android. If the method described below does not work for you, just stick to one of the two options listed above.
How it works. Just open the appbox where all your apps are, press and hold the one you want to get rid of, and drag it to the Uninstall that you will see on the screen. The last step is just to press OK when the window asks if you want to uninstall the app pops up.
This process also works for apps that are on your homepage and not just those in the appbox.
- Point and hold an app located in the app tray or on the home screen.
- Drag it to the Uninstall section Uninstall
- Press OK when the pop-up window appears.
How to remove apps from Amazon's fire devices
The three options above should work for most Android devices, but not everything. As always, there are some exceptions that require a different approach. Among these are the Amazon Fire units that run a highly customized version of Android.
Removing apps from a fire device is different from other Android devices, but it's still pretty simple. The first thing you should do is press the Apps tab on the home screen. Then select the Device tab that lists all apps installed on the device, press and hold an app you want to get rid of and select Remove from the device option. Easy, right?
- Touch the Apps tab on the home screen.
- Touch the Unit tab .
- Remove from device .
Remove pre-installed apps
All Android devices will be pre-installed with quite a few different apps. These can include a number of useful ones that most don't care about Gmail, YouTube, Facebook, and so on. However, there is also a good chance that your device will be pre-installed with apps that you do not intend to use that are manufactured by the manufacturer or your operator. In most cases, these apps cannot be uninstalled from your device as easily as the ones you have downloaded yourself. So, if you use one of the three options listed above, you will not see a Uninstall button at the end of the process, as you can see in the picture below.
The apps that cannot be deleted are called system apps, and the only way to get rid of them is to rotate your device. If you are not familiar with the term, just refer to accessing commands, system files and folder locations that are usually locked to the user.
The rotation can be considered to be moving from being a system user to becoming an administrator, with the added freedom and risks that come with more control over your deeper operation. If you want to go down this road, click the link below to learn more about the process of rotating your device.
The alternative is to simply hide the system apps you do not want to use in the appliance if your device allows it. This will not remove the programs, but at least they will not root your appbox.
What happens if you delete apps you've purchased
A lot of users are worried that if they delete apps they've purchased from Play Store, they will have to buy them again to use them later. This will of course never happen. You can delete an app you have purchased and download it for free as many times as you like.
If you delete an app you have purchased, it will be tagged as "Buy" when you search for it in the Play Store. If you want to use it again, just open it, press the download button and you're good to go. No payments needed.
As you can see, it is easy to remove apps, it does not take much time and can be done in different ways on most devices. Removing the ones you do not use is always a good thing, just because it frees up space on your device and makes your app boxes look less curled.
