To set up a printable area in Excel

Sometimes you may need to print a small portion of your Excel spreadsheet. You can always print the entire sheet and only select the important section, but there is an easier way. Here are some tips to help you set up a printable area in Excel.

A printable area is just what it sounds like – you only print the important area you need. It’s a great way to save some paper and make sure people are not distracted by your extra data. Ready to get started?

To set up a printable area in Excel

For our example, we will use a list of contacts. Imagine that you have to print a selected list of contacts to distribute in a meeting.

1. Select the cells you want to include in the printable area.

2. Go to Page layout tab and find print group. Click now print Area to open a menu.

3. Select Set the print area.

4. Now save, close and open your Excel sheet.

5. Go to File and select Print. You should only see the printable area in the preview.

To delete the print area, follow steps one to three again but select Clear the print area instead of Set the printable area.

That’s all there is to it. Now you can print any area of ​​the spreadsheet without wasting extra paper.
