Try this cool new mirror selfie trick in iOS 14 now

Use this new selfie trick when downloading iOS 14 on your iPhone.

Apple’s latest iPhone 14 operating system iOS 14 is up and running (learn how to install it now), which means you can now take advantage of all the new features, including home screen widgets, a Translate app and picture-in-picture features. But a smaller camera feature can make the biggest difference to your selfie needs: There is now a setting called Mirror Front Camera.

Mirror Front Camera joins iPhone 11‘s “slofie” slow-motion selfie feature to give us a more subtle – and, dare I say, more useful – selfie tool. (It should be noted that it is one of many iOS 14 functions that are already been available on Android devices for a while.) When you turn it on and switch to your forward-facing camera, it will take a photo that is your mirror image, instead of flipping it as the camera normally does. Some people think this is shaky because the photo you take does not match the image you see in the viewfinder.

In the end, it may not change your selfie much, but some people may prefer the more familiar reverse version of your face, like looking in a mirror.

How to use the Mirror Front Camera feature, now that iOS 14 is live.

With iOS 14 installed, the Mirror Front Camera setting is disabled by default. To enable it:

Go to settings > Camera. During Composition, switch Mirror front camera on. Go back to your camera app and turn the camera so that it meets yourself. The image is displayed when you see yourself in the mirror, instead of flipping as usual.

Here is a comparison side by side of a regular selfie and one taken with the Mirror Front Camera turned on.

You can follow the same instructions to turn off the Mirror Front Camera and return to the default selfie setting.
