Twitch Studio is a free tool that has a simple, automated installation and seamless optimization of your Twitch stream. It’s the perfect way to start streaming, without having to worry about scaring NOTE settings or connection tests.
Is Twitch Studio right for you?
If you are not sure about setting up your own streaming settings in Open Broadcast Software (OBS), Twitch Studio is right for you. It simplifies everything, including power quality settings.
In the Twitch Studio application, you can see your chat stream alongside your live broadcast and see your activity flow. Alerts (which follow and subscribe) are also built-in, making connecting to your Twitch community easier than ever.
How to set up Twitch Studio
To get started, download and install Twitch Studio on your Windows 10 PC or Mac.
If you are already logged in to a Twitch.tv account in your browser, Twitch Studio will recognize it and all you have to do is enter your password. If you do not already have an account, you can sign up to get started with the Twitch Studio program.
After logging in to your account, click “Get Started” to follow the Twitch Studios installation process. This is extremely useful for people who have never set up a power, or those who are not comfortable with OBS settings, or any of the other power clients with complex settings and customization.
First select your default microphone. If you use a headset with a microphone, Twitch Studio automatically detects and sets it by default, but you can change it.
Next is your webcam. In the same way as the microphone setting, you can customize these and use built-in color filters.
Finally, you can choose your stream layouts, including the main layout, a chat box, a “Be Right Back” screen, and any widgets you want to include. You can also create and completely customize a layout if you prefer. Recommended size is 1920 x 1080 pixels.
Once you have selected a layout, click “Continue to Settings.”
This is where you can edit your power quality settings. It’s okay if you have no idea what you’re doing here – Twitch Studio will optimize everything for you automatically. However, to customize these settings, click “Tweak Settings.”
Here you can manually configure power resolution, FPS, bit rate and more. You can also go back and run the optimization test. When you are done, click “Continue to the app.”
This new screen is your most important instrument panel. You can customize everything here, including your stream title, chat settings and layouts.
When you are ready to stream, just click “Start Stream” at the bottom.
Twitch Studio features
After starting Twitch Studio, you can adjust any adjustments you have made, even when streaming live. You see any changes in real time. For example, you can use the panels on the left to switch between your active and “Be Right Back” screens.
It is often a good idea to configure keyboard shortcuts for each of your scenes so that you can easily switch between them. This is especially useful if you are using a single monitor.
If you want to completely restore the client at any time, click on the hamburger menu at the top left, select “File” and then click on “Settings”.
Click “Reset app” in the “Settings” window.
This resets the application to its installation mode and prompts you to either click on “Skip Setup” or “Get Started” (covered above).
