OnePlus latest smartphone, OnePlus 6Tdike headphone jack, has a cake cut at the top of the display and – in what's likely to be the first to many – it has a fingerprint reader under the screen.
Placing a finger on your phone's screen and watching it unlock, or opening a password manager, is actually quite exciting. Here's what you need to know.
How It Works
Essentially, the screen acts as a light source to light your fingerprints. The fingerprint sensor below the display can then scan your skin and compare it with a known fingerprint determined during the installation.
According to OnePlus, the green graphics were chosen to show where to place your fingerprints, as it provided the most reliable unlocking experience.
The first time you set OnePlus 6T, you are prompted to set the fingerprint sensor. Follow the instructions and complete the process.
If you skip this step or decide if you want to add more fingers in the future, you can still access the setup process in Settings > Security and Lock Screen > Fingerprint . If this is the first time you have set a fingerprint on your phone, you will be asked to go through the initial setup prompt.
Otherwise, select Add fingerprints and follow the instructions.
You can customize the animation that circles around the fingerprint sensor and change when you see the fingerprompts.
Open Settings > Security and Lock Screen > Fingerprint . Once there you can choose one of the three animations that are played when your finger is on the sensor. But heads up – mostly the sensor works fast enough, you will not even see the animation.
There are also a couple of options that dictate what actions are due to the icon of the fingerprint location.
