Drivers in Austin, Texas, can now use Google Pay directly in the Google Maps app on iOS and Android to pay for parking. The new feature, part of a partnership with transportation software company Passport, will be available in more states in the coming weeks.
“We are excited to work with Passport to help drivers in Austin pay for parking faster and more conveniently directly from Google Maps,” said Vishal Dutta, Product Manager for Google Maps, in a statement. The new feature aims to make driving and parking safer when people are trying to return to normalcy among.
How to pay for parking in the Google Maps app
How to use the new feature to pay for your parking in the Google Maps app, according to Google.
Step 1: Open the Google Maps app (if you have not already used it).
Step 2: Tap when you reach your destination Pay for parking.
Step 3: Enter the required information, such as parking number (located on a nearby sign or meter), parking number, and vehicle information. (You may be asked to sign in to your Google Account here.)
Step 4: Choose how long you want to park and press the payment method you want to use. Tap Continue. (If you have not set up Google Pay, you must do so first – we have instructions on.)
You can also pay for parking through your mobile browser by going to Pay.google.com/parking and pressing Pay for parking. Go there if you want to extend your parking session as well. No matter how you do this, the receipt will be sent to your Google Account.
