After finally spilling the beans on the cheaper version of its new Xbox yesterday, Microsoft is ready to release the entire enchilada. This has been officially confirmed: Xbox Series X and disc-free Xbox Series S will go on sale starting November 10 for $ 499 and $ 299 respectively. Pre-orders for the hardware start on September 22.
That’s half the layout of this holiday’s console design. Sony is next time, after showing the PlayStation 5 and a cheaper PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, but not giving a specific price or date for any of them. Rumor has it that Sony will not be able to beat Microsoft on the price, especially for the cheaper disc-free option.
This is the tweet …

Microsoft’s economic advantage does not end with the hardware. The company is pushing the Xbox Game Pass hard after a year of adding new titles and features such as streaming mobile games. The Xbox All Access service is a monthly subscription that includes an Xbox Series console, Game Pass Ultimate and complete online gaming with an interest-free mobile phone-style payment plan. The Xbox Series X plus Game Pass costs $ 35 a month for two years, and the Xbox Series S is only $ 25 a month. It’s an incredible value considering the 100+ games in the Game Pass library, which are now enhanced by the inclusion of EA Play.
By comparison, Game Pass Ultimate is $ 15 per month on its own. So over two years, it costs $ 660 to buy an Xbox Series S directly and subscribe to the service, while zero interest financing is only $ 600. The Xbox Series X does not save as much, only $ 20 for two years, but it still says there is no downside to the payment plan.
By focusing on both affordable prices and a cheap subscription to popular and new games, Microsoft makes a convincing offer for the next generation. It will be interesting to see how Sony and Nintendo respond.
