Next time you need to build some IKEA furniture or install a shelf in the bathroom, bring your Samsung Galaxy S20. It has a hidden feature that replaces a tool you need for the job.
Although not exactly the intended purpose of this feature, the stock camera plug can very easily be used as a bubble level. To try it, switch to Photo tab in the camera, tap the gear symbol in the upper left corner and then activate “Grid lines”.
Place the phone with the screen facing up on the surface you want to test. Two indicators will appear in the center rectangle of the grid: a gray dot and a circle. When the gray dot is aligned with the open circle, both the indicators and the entire center rectangle turn yellow. This is where the surface is smooth.
Either the camera (rear or front) can be activated to use this function, but you must be in photo mode. The intended purpose here is to set up landscape images, but since it uses the phone’s internal sensors to set up the two points, it also acts as a very accurate level!
